WINDOW ON DIXON
Dixon is more than just a town on busy Interstate 80. Within San Francisco Bay Area’s Solano County and only 22 miles from Sacramento, Dixon offers fine restaurants, motels and family fun! Our historic town center and May Fair complex are reflective of a 19th century rail-stop, agricultural center, and early 20th century “Lincoln Highway” crossroads community.

The Dixon May Fair Parade is the oldest parade in the state of California and we just celebrated our 131st year! The same goes for the Dixon May Fair – which is the oldest fair in the state of California. Each year a different theme is decided upon and the parade and fair seem to get bigger and better each year! This year, the parade had over 150 entries and over 350,000 spectators!
Dixon is home to Lambtown, USA where you can taste different types of lamb, compete in sheep shearing contests and enjoy craft and fiber booths, competitions, animal exhibits and, a variety of great food celebrating the lamb industry and the rich agricultural heritage of the region. Live entertainment features music and performances from many cultures including Basque, Spanish, Greek, Scottish, Peruvian and American Country.

The Chamber is very excited about the possibility of Dixon being home to Dixon Downs, a world-class state of the art racetrack and entertainment center located within the city limits along Interstate 80. The first phase of this proposed project will involve the construction of a 100-foot wide 1-1/8 mile dirt track and a 180–foot wide turf track. The proposed multi-purpose Finish Line Pavilion will accommodate up to 6,000 race fans and offer dining and other amenities for customers from Dixon and beyond.
