VALLEJO JUL 4 2009 13th Annual Great Vallejo Ducky Derby 289 Mare Island Way Vallejo 94590 707-644-5551 The Great Vallejo Ducky Derby is a rubber duck race on the 4th of July at Vallejo's Waterfront. Approximately,12,000 rubber ducks will be released in the Mare Island Strait near the Vallejo Ferry Terminal Building in a frantic race to the finish line.The individually numbered ducks are carried towards victory by the current for approximately fifty yards. As they approach the finish, much like the final moments of the film "Chariots of Fire", only the five strongest ducks will emerge victorious.
